looking to promote my website

Postby ianhaney » Fri Jun 08, 2012 11:11 am

Hi

my website is a on line website selling a wide range of products and was seeing if any one knows of any other ways to promote my website

I currently advertise it on Facebook and is on Google

My website is www.irhmedia.co.uk

I was thinking of designing some leaflets and delivering them to houses near to myself

Any ideas would be great

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,
welcome to the forum.

I see that you are already on Twitter, so that is a good start.
You need to also make good use of Facebook and Google Plus, and Pinterest.

How to Use Pinterest to promote an ecommerce website
Pinterest is the one that will really help with a website like yours for generating traffic and sales.
You can create a profile there with your website and company details that everyone will see, and
then create what Pinterest calls "Boards". These should corespond with the categoies on your website.

The you add the images of the products in the categories on your website to the coresponding boards
on your Pinterest account. You can add a description of the product in the pin description, and a link
to the page on your website for that item.

Do this for each of the categories and all of the products on your website, then you can start to "like"
other related pins on other peoples boards. They in turn will start to look at and like yours back and
some may even "re-pin" your pins. You will start to get a steady stream of visitors through to the website
from Pinterest.

Optimising your website in Google
Another thing of course that you can do is to optimise your website in Google. Once you start to rank
well for your chosen keywords in Google, you will get more traffic and in turn more sales. If you need
someone to do your SEO our SEO sponsor will be happy to give you a quote and work with you.
You can find them at http://UkSEO.pro

Promoting products on eBay
Another thing you can do is to advertise your products on eBay with a link back to your website in the description.
You can add your Company Logo to the item template, and link it to your website. Make sure the item on eBay is
always slightly more expensive than it is on your own website, then people will buy from your website, and eBay
will just be a funnel for highly targeted visitors.

These should get you started.
Let us know how you get on...

Hi

I am on Facebook as well for Irh Media and I have a personal Google plus but not one for Irh Media, I am awaiting a invite from pinterest

I am on Google for the SEO but am on page 3 I think for most keywords

Might have to ask for a quote for the SEO from your SEO sponsor

I thought of Ebay but its the listing fees that put me off

I'm not sure how the listing fees differ for personal accounts and business accounts on eBay but from my previous experience it wasn't the listing fees that were high it was the fees on sale, especially if accepting PayPal.

Quite often I'll receive invites from eBay for free listing weekends so they waive the listing fee, not sure if businesses can also benefit but if so it could be worth waiting for one of these invites.

If there's no avoiding the listing fees you could compare them to marketing to a similar number of people. eBay has an undeniably massive audience so when you consider the exposure compared to a leaflet drop it could be worthy of the listing fees. Also if you have many of the same item I believe you only get charged for the initial listing but the listing stays active until it either expires, is withdrawn by you or (preferrably) all your items sell.

Leaflet droppin still works, however having had a quick look at your website I'd suggest perhaps trying to sponsor or advertise in as many primary school and nursery newsletters as possible. The recipients are likely to be your target market and advertising this way is likely to be the best way to focus on reaching these people.

Anyway just my tuppence worth, hope it's of use.

I'm a mortgage and insurance broker, as well as an estate agent by the way so if any of my professional services can be of use please do let me know.
